How to get an archaeological object identified:

  • The Portable Antiquities Scheme is a voluntary scheme to record archaeological objects found by members of the public. Thousands of objects are discovered by people everyday. The scheme was established to promote the recording of chance finds and broaden public awareness of the importance of such objects for understanding the past.  Each area has a Finds Liaison Officer who will help identify finds and record them. In Bedfordshire the Finds Liaison Officer is based at Verulamium Museum.
