Organisations that may be able to help with your consumer problems and enquiries:

  • Bedfordshire Trading Standards.  Information and advice on consumer issues and fair trading.  The service is run by Bedfordshire County Council. The web site now includes lists of traders approved by Trading Standards who agree to abide by a set of standards.  Businesses include those engaged in the motor, electrical, double glazing, plumbing, roofing, building and carpentry trades.
  • Consumer Direct - Service to Bedfordshire (direct link) Advice and support for consumers in Bedfordshire is now provided by Consumer Direct. Consumer Direct is a telephone and online consumer advice service, which is supported by local authorities in the east of England, and by the Department of Trade and Industry. To speak to a Consumer Direct adviser, please call 08454 040506 (Minicom users should call on 08451 281384).
