Where can I find details of alumni?

Details of alumni of Oxford and Cambridge University are at Bedfordshire Heritage Library in the volumes:

Alumni Cantabrigienses : a biographical list of all students, graduates and holders of office at the University of Cambridge, from the earliest times to 1900. 10 Volumes

Alumni Oxonienses : the members of the University of Oxford 1715-1886, their parentage, birthplace and year of birth, with a record of their degrees. 4 Volumes

Alumni of Cambridge University 1261-1900 are also available online on Ancestry.co.uk. In any library in Bedford Borough or Central Bedfordshire you can search Ancestry Library Edition free. At the home page, click 'Advanced search', then click 'Cambridge University Alumni' under 'Directories and Members Lists' in the menu on the right
You may find recent alumni through other web sites although some sites may use terms such as 'former students' rather than the word 'alumni'
For example, the web site Friendsreunited enables you to search for former students who have chosen to add their names to the site in connection with a particular school, college or university. You can select a specific school, college or university and view the names of people connected with it or you can search the site by name
The web sites of some individual schools, colleges and universities have sections about 'alumni' or 'former students'. To find these you could try searching a general search engine such as Google or Yahoo. For tips on using search engines see click here.
