Non-commercial people-finding services

A-Z how to find information > Finding people

  • There are voluntary organisations, often charities, that can actively help you search for people. One of the most well-known is the Salvation Army's Family Tracing Service
  • Please note - an organisation may be able to offer help in some cases but not in others. For example, some non-specialist organisations cannot offer help in cases of adoption. You can normally check whether your search would fall within the scope of the organisation's service by reading the details on the organisation's web site
  • You can see the web sites of the most well-known of these organisations at Gateway to the Internet > Finding people
