- You can search electoral registers online at some
commercial web sites. Note that current online registers and past online
registers later than 2002 are the 'edited registers', which do not include
individuals who have chosen to 'opt out' of that version of the registers
- An example site is 192.com web site. It
gives you a free results list of names and places, which might give you
some clues, and you then have to pay a small fee in order to view the full results.
A well-known family history site,
Findmypast.com, has a 'Living relatives'
section that
enables you to search electoral registers for a fee
- You can search electoral registers of the recent past on a CD-ROM called
'UK-info disc' at Bedford Central, Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard libraries.
The disc includes electoral registers of
the whole country, but the latest coverage available is 2005 or 2006
- Please phone to check the disc you need is available before making a
special visit to a library
- The 2004 'UK-info disc' was the last disc to give details from the full
registers. It gives details from the 2002 full registers and from the 2003
edited registers. After the 2004 disc, the details are from the 'edited
registers'
- The earliest disc held is 'UK-info disc 2001' covering the registers in
force during 2000, for which people registered in October 1999
- On 'UK-info disc' you can enter a name and search the whole country or you
can limit your search to a specific region, county or town
