• A web site called Adviceguide, produced by Citizens Advice, gives helpful information on a wide range of topics
• All libraries have the book Citizens Advice guide to your rights, which explains how to deal with issues and problems that can arise in daily life
• For more web sites and books see the individual subject sections in A-Z how to find information
• For example, see Consumer issues; Disability; Employment; Gay and lesbian; Health and care; Law and your rights; Money matters

• At Bedford Central, Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard libraries you can use the 'Citizens Advice CD-ROM', a guide to rights and services, updated monthly and covering many topics, including employment, family, health and legal system

Local groups and services

• For details of local organisations and services, see You and Your Community (YoYo)
• For more local support groups, see 'InfoPoint', a database of all kinds of local clubs and societies. You can search InfoPoint online and in printed directories. The online version omits some clubs and societies that have not given permission for their contact details to be included in that version
• All Bedfordshire libraries hold the printed 'InfoPoint' directory for their own area
• Bedford Central, Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard libraries hold 'InfoPoint' directories covering the whole county

National organisations

• Web sites of many helpful national organisations are at Gateway to the Internet > Advice and help
• For helpful national organisations dealing with specific subjects see also the specific subject sections of the Gateway to the Internet
• All charities are listed at the Charity Commission web site in the Register of Charities, which you can search by charity number, name or keyword
• All Bedfordshire libraries have the printed Voluntary agencies directory. This book gives contact details for over 2000 national charities, support groups and other organisations connected to the voluntary sector. It includes a concise description of each organisation's aims and objectives
• Some libraries have the Charities digest, which lists thousands of regional and national charities
