Really Interesting Book Parties
Central Bedfordshire Libraries have hosted a number of
Really Interesting Tea Parties to launch Quest Seekers Plus,
the summer reading scheme.
Our readers came along to their local library to share their thoughts with others on
their favourite books, find out about Reading Groups and add to our Really
Interesting Book Shelf.
Our theme for the summer reading challenge
is 'Really Interesting Books' (RIBs). As Hilary Mantel, writing in the Guardian,
put it; "We all know what a RIB is, I think. It's a book that is
about more than you imagined when first you picked it up. RIBs are like treasure
maps - the marks on the paper are only symbolic indications of the riches to be
recovered. They tell you things you always somehow knew, but had never been able
to articulate. A RIB is like going on your travels, but also somehow like
arriving home".
We want you to share the books that you've found really interesting, and we've
had displays of RIBs in our libraries through the summer.
