There may be other people like you who love reading but none of their friends would dream of joining a Reading Group. It's crazy, I know! There are a few things we can do to help you.
- There are a lot of reading groups in the County and many may be looking for new members. Please contact your local library to find out more. The staff will provide you with a 'I Want to Join a Reading Group form' so that your details are available for recruiting groups or perhaps a new group.
- The library may have a list of people like you who are aching to start a reading group and once they have enough people they may organise a gathering so you can get to know each other and get reading! Or some Libraries periodically organise evenings or afternoons inviting anybody along who is interested in joining a group.
- Some libraries have a meeting space in the library where you can continue to meet until you feel comfortable enough to organise somewhere else, like a pub or a cafe.
That should be enough to get you started. There may be a short wait before the library gets enough people interested in joining a Reading Group, so be patient.
