Chocolate and Champagne - Steve Wright's Sunday Lovesongs

I can think of nothing nicer than snuggling up with a box of chocolates and a bottle of champagne on a lazy day, and listening to this fabulous collection of loved-up tracks. There's really something for everyone on this double-album. Artists represented include Dusty Springfield, The Bee Gees, and The Police, and there are also more up-to-date artists such as Nelly, Sugababes and the Osbournes.

Lupe Fiasco's Food and Liquor - Lupe Fiasco

You probably couldn't get further away from Sunday Love Songs with this second suggested album from the young Chicago MC and rapper Lupe Fiasco. This is his debut album, and it apparently took him a good five years to make. It was well worth the wait though, with every track a winner, and Grammy nominations quickly followed. Lupe tackles a range of subjects from the very personal to the political. A fresh and winning voice.

Eat Me, Drink Me - Marilyn Manson

Once again we have a complete change of style with our third suggested album, with metaller Marilyn Manson. This is actually one of Manson’s most accessible albums, with a much more melodic feel and experimentation with heavy rock and electronica. Not quite Alice in Wonderland.

Chocolat - Original Soundtrack

Bring back wonderful memories of the bittersweet film with this lovely soundtrack by Rachel Portman. The music is delicate yet memorable.

In Between Dreams - Jack Johnson

OK so we may be pushing the foodie link with this one a little bit. But this wonderful, relaxed album by Hawaiian surfer Johnson does contain the wonderful song "Banana Pancakes". Put this album on, imagine yourself sitting under a palm tree with a coconut cocktail - and drift away!

Stadium Arcadium - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Again this may be stretching the food link, but how could we have a scrumptious list without including those Red Hot Chili Peppers themselves? We have loads of albums by the Chilies to keep you occupied. From the Bedford Library favourite One Hot Minute, to their latest studio album Stadium Arcadium. Get your moneys worth with this two CD contemporary classic.
