Music of the Andes - The Rough GuideMusic of the Andes - The Rough Guide

There's nothing like listening to the local music of a place to give you a feel for its traditions, customs and celebrations. This is a lovely series of CDs, others in our collection include India, Kenya, Portugal, and Italy, which will either get you in the mood for your journey, or remind you what a fantastic time you had on your return.

Power Ballads - Driving AnthemsPower Ballads: The Greatest Driving Anthems

You won't mind about being stuck in traffic for 5 hours with this excellent box set of 39 anthems of power and passion. We've got a timeless selection of tracks for you here, ranging from Bonnie Tyler's "Total eclipse of the heart", through Meat Loaf's "I would do anything for love" and on to Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven is a place on earth" (my own personal favourite!) Wind your windows down and pump up the volume!

Songs of TravelSongs of Travel

Vaughan Williams wrote this cycle of songs about a world-weary traveller between 1901 and 1904, but they still hold resonance today.  They are based on poetry by Robert Louis Stevenson and artfully portray the life of a traveller on the road, this is good, straightforward classical music at its best.

Travelling Without MovingTravelling Without Moving

Some would argue, me included, that this is Jamiroquai's finest album. Filtering the diverse sounds of 1970s soul, latino grooves, and even some tribal beats, through the mesh of 90s acid jazz, this is the perfect album for sitting back, relaxing, and taking a journey in your mind. With such classics as Cosmic Girl, and Virtual Insanity, this album is sure to please.

Fly Or DieFly or Die

I realise that the connection with travel may be a bit tenuous, but there is at least the word "fly" in the title of this great album by N.E.R.D. This group is the "alter-ego" of the production team The Neptunes, who have worked with stars such as Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, and, oddly, Britney Spears, and its easy to see that N.E.R.D get a lot of influence from the bands they have produced. A good all round album with some stand-out tracks, particularly "She wants to move", and "Fly or die". They're great live too!
