Genres
Genres are used by publishers as a way of making it easier to choose books, and both bookshops and libraries use them. We use genres in the library to make it easier to find something you might like. If you have a favourite author and you’ve read all their books, other books that we’ve placed in the same genre may well appeal to you. If you’re short of time to browse and you know what you like, having the books in genres will help you find a book without having to search through miles of shelves. We’ve put together some definitions of the genres which you’ll find in our libraries, along with some suggested books and authors, and links to websites which you might find interesting.
