10 of the best festivals for 2010
1. The Camden Crawl. 1st 2nd May, Camden Town, London
Spread over over a mile and a half Camden Crawlers can sample new talent for
over thirty hours across more than forty venues. In addition to live music acts,
the festival also features an array of interactive daytime activities and
cutting edge performances across the arts. Camden Crawlers are allowed unlimited
access to all Crawl venues, after show parties and daytime activities. The 2010
Camden Crawl returns over the weekend Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd May 2010, to
present around 200 acts performing in 40 venues over the two days.
The 2010 Crawl will, in addition to its line-up of live music acts, also feature
an array of interactive daytime activities and cutting edge performances across
the arts, including comedy, visual art, arts & crafts, spoken word, bingo &
quizzes, short films, theatre, and more.

2. The Great Escape. 13th-15th May, Brighton
The Great Escape features
hundreds of international and UK pop, cutting edge, hip hop, electronic, and
rock acts showcased at venues all over Brighton. The dates for 2010 are confirmed
as Thursday 13th until Saturday 15th May 2010. The line-up will include over 300
acts from around the globe in around 30 venues within Brighton City Centre. The
venues are all a close walk from each other with each venue equipped to an
international showcase standard.

3. Radio One Big Weekend. 22nd-23rd May, Bangor
Radio One Big Weekend is a
music festival run by BBC Radio 1, held this year in Faenol Park, Bangor, in
North Wales. The two day free festival takes place on Saturday 22nd and Sunday
23rd May. This event is run in a different location within the United Kingdom
each time. It is the biggest free live music event in the UK and always includes
a host of new artists.
With live music across four stages - The Main Stage, The In New Music We Trust
Stage, The BBC Introducing Stage and The Outdoor Stage, the two-day event is
licensed to hold 20,000 people per day and the majority of the free tickets go
to residents of Bangor and the surrounding area.

4. Evolution Music Festival, 30th and 31st May, Newcastle
Evolution Music Festival returns
over two days again, with a crowd of 60,000 expected over the weekend and
culminating in the outdoor shows at Spiller's Wharf and Baltic Square on the
Gateshead quayside on the Bank Holiday weekend, Sunday 30th and Monday 31st May
2010.
Evolution's two existing main stages will be joined in 2010 by a new folk and
roots stage; the Ballast Hill Stage with a line-up including The Unthanks, King
Creosote, Po' Girl, James Hunter & The Jokers, Donovan, Baskery, Lissie, Smoove
& Turrell, Slow Club, Danny and The Champions of The World, and Ben Howard.

5. Isle of Wight Festival, 11th-13th June, Isle of Wight
The dates for the ninth Isle of
Wight festival have been confirmed.
This means that between 11th 13th
June, over fifty of the hottest names in music will be making their way, by
plane, train, boat or bus to Seaclose Park on the Isle of Wight to give
festival goers a weekend they wont forget and start the 2010 festival season in
style.

6. Parklife, 12th June, Manchester
Licensed for 15,000 Parklife
Festival takes place at Platts Field Park, Manchester on Saturday 12th June
2010. The event is part of the 100th year anniversary celebrations of the Park.

7. Latitude, 15th - 18th July, Beccles, Suffolk
Latitude isn't just about music,
but has a full spectrum of art including film, comedy, theatre, cabaret, dance,
poetry, literature and art together for a fun-filled, cultural adventure by the
sea. The dates for the fifth Latitude which has a capacity of 25,000 are
confirmed as Friday 16th to Sunday 18th July 2010, with the festival opening
it's gates on Thursday 15th July for some limited non-musical entertainment.

8. Lovebox Weekender, 16th 18th July, Victoria Park, Hackney, London
This year Lovebox expands to three days of DJ
sets and live PAs from club and radio DJs mixed with bands, and acoustic
performers on a main stage, and nine smaller venues. The 40-acre site will also
feature new acts, performers, stage sets and special effects from all over the
world for what promises to be a carnival of anarchic entertainment.

9. Camp Bestival, 30th July 1st August, Lulworth Castle, Dorset
One of the best festivals in the
country for families with young children, Bestival's sister festival - Camp
Bestival - returns in 2010 from Friday 30th July to Sunday 1st August, the first
week of the school summer holidays, at the picturesque setting of Lulworth
Castle, set against the backdrop of England's dramatic Jurassic coastline in
Dorset.

10. The Rhythm Festival, 20th - 22nd August, Twinwood Arena, Clapham, Bedford
The Rhythm Festival is a small and friendly three day music festival that takes place every August in the heart of the beautiful Bedfordshire countryside at Twinwood Arena, Clapham. The entertainment is an eclectic mix of Rock, Folk, Roots, Blues, Ska, old-style R&B and Comedy spread over three stages.
