Library Skills for Lower School Children
The Schools Library Service offers a range of training courses which aim to help library co-ordinators and other staff to develop and improve their school library.
Places on the courses are limited so if you would like to attend please contact us as soon as possible.

- What’s the difference between a project collection and a bulk loan?
For the answers to these,
and many more questions, why not join us for an informal course on basic library
procedures? The course is for library co-ordinators or anyone who works in the
school library.
Bring along up to 5 of your own books which are in need of attention to work on.
Stationery will be provided.

Running a School Library
Course dates to follow
Do you need help with the day to day running of
your school library? Are you new to your school library or just need a
refresher in the ‘basics’?
This course is designed for library co-ordinators
and any other staff with library responsibilities to give guidance to schools
wishing to improve and develop an existing school library or start one from
scratch. We will cover everything from creating a library policy to mending
books!
The course is led by the team at the Schools Library Service. The morning does have a programme but we are happy to help you with any specific problems you may have regarding your own libraries.
If you wish to come please bring five of your own school library books which are in need of ‘attention’ and we will show you the easiest and cheapest way to mend them.

Display Course

This course for beginners is designed to inspire each participant to produce visually exciting, professional looking displays, with a minimum of preparation using a range of inexpensive and readily available materials.
The course is led by the team at the Schools Library Service.

Library Skills for Lower School Children
Course dates to follow
This course is designed for library co-ordinators and other staff interested in helping children improve their library skills. We will cover ideas to use with children in all year groups from Foundation to Key Stage 2.
The course will be led by the team at the Schools Library Service.
